Novali gourmet, known as the largest muffin manufacturer in Quebec, has just invested a new sum of $ 2 million in their plant in Boucherville.

Being known in the 90s in the food service in B2B as a manufacturer of pies for hotels, restaurants and institutions, Novali Gourmet has grown a lot in recent years. They have diversified their product lines. “More and more products have been manufactured for large retail chains,” said Robert Leduc, co-owner of Novali. Indeed, among the retail products offered to consumers, Novali sells products under their brand and manufactures co-packing products such as, for example, Félix & Norton, Cookie Bluff, Yummy Doh and Madame Labriski.

Co-packing "has become quite a bit of our strength, our axis of growth in recent years," Mr. Leduc said. As this strong growth continues, Novali has just completed phase 2 of its plant's investment plan with the help of Gespro Packaging. The first phase, which took place in 2013, was to do a small expansion and redevelopment of the factory to meet GFSI accreditation standards. This allowed them to go and seek new contracts. The acquisition of new equipment following the expansion made it possible to complete the implementation of the new plant layout (phase 2).

Robert Leduc is very satisfied with the collaboration with Gespro Packaging for their factory project considering the challenges that this represented. He said that although Gespro is not a big engineering firm, he strongly recommends them. They listened to our needs and adapted solutions to the business. They have integrated successfully different customized equipment for us. “The challenges are quite complex given that on the same production line, there are several packaging and several product formats” he stressed. This investment has enabled us to automate production, reduce production costs and counter the labor shortage which is greatly felt by manufacturing companies. Now, we are able to offer more to market: more contracts in prospect!

The company is currently preparing a development plan for the rest of Canada and the United States.
